Carnegie Library Woman's College scrapbook

Scrapbook contents include a brief history of the library, as well as correspondence, ephemera, fliers, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, publication clippings, and photographs of events, groups, and individuals.
Charles Duncan McIver scrapbook, 1906
This scrapbook, created by William Cunningham Smith, contains materials relating to the death of Charles Duncan McIver in 1906. McIver was founder and first president of the State Normal and Industrial School (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). This scrapbook contains "A Sketch of Dr. Charles McIver" written by N.W. Walker; a funeral sermon entitled "The Life and Work of Charles Duncan McIver" written by Rev. L.W. Crawford; a poem; an invitation to McIver's memorial service; and newspaper clippings that have been annotated in the margins.
Class of 1917 scrapbook
This scrapbook, created by representatives of the Class of 1917 of the State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), contains materials relating to the freshman through senior years of the class of 1917. Photographs document student life, students in gym clothes, tennis players, a hayride, students wearing the class sweater, the Hose House, the Forest House fire, and student productions, including "Evangeline" and "Vision of Youth." The scrapbook contains invitations for several events: the "Sophomore-Junior Cup" field hockey game, Junior-Senior "Basket Ball," and Halloween parties. The scrapbook also contains a freshman class list, Morning Watch rosters, senior privileges list, and programs for the Banquet, Festival Night, prayer service, The Amus-U Co. production, and "Vision of Youth." Other contents include menus from the Banquet and "Sophomore Stunt," lyrics for Tree Song and other miscellaneous songs, a booklet of the songs of 1917, a poem from the "Evangeline" production, a class of 1917 felt armband, a Field Day Ribbon from 1917, a piece of felt with '18 affixed to it, a piece of satin with '19 affixed to it, a petition to wear caps and gowns at commencement, a peanut decorated in a blue dress, a "Sophomore Lunch Room" sign, an account of a reception at the home of faculty member Melville Fort, an account of Field Day, calling cards, and a Tree Night wood ring. The pages of the scrapbook are decorated with drawings.
Class of 1918 scrapbook
This scrapbook, created by representatives of the class of 1918 of the State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), contains materials relating to the freshmen through senior years of that class, as well as material from several reunions. The scrapbook is heavily annotated and contains handwritten essays and observations as well as pages decorated with pen and ink drawings and watercolors. Photographs document Field Day, a Glee Club operetta, 1920 and 1922 reunions, and plays titled "The Drawing of the Sword" and "Trelawney of the Wells." Posters include Morning Watch, Prayer Service, and Vespers Service. The scrapbook also contains a circus flier, College Night song lyrics, the Farewell Banquet menu and notes, an in memoriam page, part of a 1918 physical education badge, a poem written for Dr. Julius Foust's birthday party, and reunion information for 1920 and 1922, including two crepe paper hats. Also included are Senior Camp Supper notes, Tacky Party invitation, Tree Night tableaux and song lyrics, Vespers Service program, and pageant material relating to the Red Cross benefit. The scrapbook also includes references to the death of Class Mascot David Young, who was the grandson of Charles Duncan McIver.
Class of 1919 scrapbook
This scrapbook, created by representatives of the Class of 1919 of the State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), contains materials relating to the freshman through junior years of the Class of 1919. It includes cast lists for the play "Tree Night" and a "Sophomore-Freshmen Entertainment," handwritten notes, a circus flier, a piece of a red 1919 armband, lyrics for the class song, "The Tree Song," and "Songs to Our Little Sisters"; as well as photographs of the field hockey team, students wearing junior sweaters, commencement, and student life.

This scrapbook, created by representatives of the Class of 1944, contains materials relating to the 1941-1942 school year at Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro)" Includes a list of models and clothing for a campus fashion show sponsored by Montaldo's Second Floor Shop and events programs. Newspaper clippings concern clubs and school events, particularly the Galatean Club and student government, the International Weekend program, physical education, and World War II service.

This scrapbook, created by representatives of the Class of 1944 of Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), contains materials relating to the senior year of the Class of 1944. The scrapbook includes materials relating to the productions of "Antigone of Sophocles," "Cry Havoc," and "Tragedy of Gua". It also contains programs relating to student activities, including Aycock Auditorium events, the Baccalaureate sermon, the Dolphin and Seal Club Water Pageant, Easter, the First Annual Arts Forum, Founder's Day, and the University sermon.

This scrapbook, created by the representatives of the Class of 1950 of Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), contains materials relating to the freshman through senior years of the Class of 1950. Photographs depict student life, individual students, senior students wearing class jackets, the Senior Show, dances, Phi Beta Kappa students, May Day court with view of the lake, a party with Walter Clinton Jackson, and the "Helpless and Griddle" puppet show. The scrapbook also contains programs for several events: the Cinderella Ball, Sleigh Bell Formal, Junior-Senior Ball, the University Sermon, the Social Science Forum, the International Student Conference, the Arts Forum, the Dolphin-Seal Club, "Gullible Travels," and "I Remember Mama." Numerous newspaper articles are included, relating to school activities, dances, elections, productions, student honors, campus construction, and a class project. The scrapbook also includes class song lyrics, a class jacket manufacturer advertisement, ephemera from Sophomore-Senior Apache party, a script for the "Helpless and Griddle" puppet show, and invitations for the Cinderella Ball, Sleigh Bell Formal, and Junior-Senior Ball. Also included is correspondence from Walter Clinton Jackson thanking the class for the retirement party and wrist watch that they gave him. The pages in the scrapbook are decorated with drawings and ephemera.

The scrapbook also contains hostess and "Class Of" ribbons, material from the Junior Show "Westward Ho The Women," a Senior Dance Invitation, and a Commencement program.
