If You Vote "No,

It Will Cost You Honey
A "yes" vote on the five bond issues will save Greensboro money
in both the short view and the long view. Common sense dictates that
the mere claim of economy probably will not persuade enough voters to
assure passage of the five bond issues.
Greensboro citizens are facing a multi-million dollar misunderstanding. A "no" vote on the five bond issues will prove to be an
expensive mistake.
Greensboro's needs won't go away just by wishing them away.
Some of the solutions to Greensboro's problems will cost money unless
we want to mortgage the future with even more costly solutions.
Without the benefit of using the City's long term credit, by way of
bonds, municipal action may be necessary to require a property tax
increase of greater consequence than the eight cents generated by
passage of the program.
A "no" will damage Greensboro's momentum toward a better
community.
A "no" will be an attack on sound community management and
sensible community finance.
A "no" will cause 12.5 million dollars of State highway money to
be withheld from Greensboro for lack of half that amount in locally
matched funds. Tax money already paid but, if unmatched, to be allocated elsewhere.
A "no" will jeopardize low fire insurance rales and Greensboro's
Class III insurance rating.
A "no" will permit Buffalo Creek to continue to send out its daily
nasty reminders about Greensboro's inadequate treatment of sewage
and industrial waste.
A "no" will threaten the community's future supply of finished
water, for want of an adequate feeder main system.
