BY-LA.WS, RULES AND REGUIATIONS OF THE MEDICAL STAFF CENTRAL CAROLINA CONVALESCENT HOSPITAL, INC* GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA ARTICLE I. NAME The name of this organization shall be the Medical Staff of the Central Carolina Convalescent Hospital, Inc. Section 1 — How Constituted Article IV of the By-Laws of the Trustees of the Central Carolina Convalescent Hospital, Inc. provides that: "The Medical Staff of the hospital shall be selected by the Executive Committee or it shall make provisions for the selection of the medi?al staff. The by-laws or the regulations of said medical staff shall be submitted to the executive committee and approved by it before they become effective." ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP Section 1 — Qualifications The applicant for membership shall be a graduate of a recognized medical school, legally licenced to practice in the State of North Carolina and qualified for membership in the Guilford County Medical Society. Section 2 — Application for Membership Application for membership on the staff shall be presented in writing, on the prescribed form, which shall state the qualifications and references of the applicant, and shall also signify his agreement to abide by the by-laws, rules and regulations of the staff. Section 3 — Terms of appointment All appointments shall be made by the Board of Trustees of the hospital and Bfaa\l be for the period of one year. At the end of the year, or at the end of the fiscal year of the hospital, the Board of Trustees may re-appoint all members for a further period of one year provided the staff has not recommended that any specific appointment not be renewed. Should the Board of Trustees wish to take the initiative to refuse reappointment to any member it shall advise the staff accordingly. Section h — Ethics The code of Ethics of the American Medical Association shall govern the professional conduct of the members of the Medical Staff. Section £ — Procedure for Appointment Ta) Application for membership on the staff shall be presented to the Medical Director of the hospital and referred by him to the staff at the first regular meeting thereafter to be rejected, approved, or referred to the credentials committee. (b) The credentials committee shall investigate the character and qualifications of the applicant, and submit a report to the staff at its next regular meeting. (c) On the receipt of the report from the credentials committee, the staff shall recommend to the Board of Trustees, through the director^ that the application be accepted, deferred, or rejected. (d) The Board of Trustees is requested either to accept the recommendation of the staff or to instruct its secretary to state to the staff the reasons for rejection. (e) When final action has been taken by the Board of Trustees, the Medical Director of the hospital shall transmit this decision to the applicant.
