Oral History interview with Deborah Elizabeth Branson
Primarily documents the life of Deborah Elizabeth Branson, and her service with the United States Navy. Branson recalls her disappointment upon learning women were not allowed aboard ships, the pressure she felt as a woman, knowing her actions would reflect on the other female service members, and the regret she feels for not requesting more assignments. She also describes the difficulties she has had with the Veterans Administration since her retirement. Branson recalls the recreational activities she participated in while at various duty stations, including her involvement with The Ninety-Nines, an International Organization of Women Pilots, Whirly Girls International, a non-profit that aims to advance women in helicopter aviation, and while stationed in the Philippines with her husband, taking part in a sail boat race from Hong Kong, China to Manila.
