Oral history interview with Jill Corbusier Mayer
Primarily documents the life of Jill Corbusier Mayer, and her time in the United States Navy Nurse Corps and United States Navy Reserve. Mayer discusses losing both her parents at a young age, her Catholic education, and her decision to become a United States Navy nurse. She recounts the specialized nurses training she received, the various duty stations she was assigned to, as well as her time spent aboard the USS Sanctuary in Vietnam. Mayer recalls the many opportunities the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps afforded her, and the feeling of independence it gave her. She also discusses meeting her future husband while stationed in the Philippines, and the reasons behind her decision to leave the U.S. Navy.
