What's in the full collection?: This collection contains paperwork detailing standard regulations of the United States Marines Women's Reserve (United States MCWR); personal and official correspondence; newsletters; song lyrics; personnel sheets; an ID card; a bumper sticker; and a photograph. The personal letters written by Dickson to her family talk about her travel experiences and life in the Marines; however most of the collection consists of official correspondence. There is one photograph of her sitting at her desk with her typewriter in the Public Relations office in Atlanta; Georgia.
Full biography: Mary Catherine Dickson served in the Marine Corps Women's Reserve during World War II. Mary Catherine Dickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Dickson of Peoria, Arizona, graduated from the University of Missouri in the early 1940s. She joined the Marine Corps Women's Reserves in 1943 and completed basic training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Dickson served in the public relations office of the Southern Procurement Division in Atlanta.
