What's in the full collection?: This collection contains personal correspondence; newsletters; photographs; newspaper clippings; event programs and a graduation invitation. This collection primarily focuses on Lawrence's achievements practicing law in the Coast Guard and Navy; and as a civilian practicing Immigration Law. The photographs not only contain photographs of Lawrence; but also with her husband; with other SPARS or military personnel; and another person who is unnamed. Most of the collection consists of photographs; newspaper and newsletter copies.
Full biography: Helene P. Lawrence served in the United States Coast Guard SPARS during World War II.

: SPAR cadets drill; Coast Guard SPARs, in a formation of 3 lines, march in unison during drills at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. Helene Lawrence appears to be front left. The caption on the back reads:"Marching with the same precision as their brothers in arms, SPAR cadets drill on the parade ground at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut. These SPARS will shortly by officers capable of upholding the 153-year-old tradition of the Coast Guard."
