19th and 20th Century Diary Collection
A collection of diaries from the 19th and 20th centuries divided into three series (Juvenile, Travel, and Women). Diaries relate to personal lives of individuals and families of various backgrounds and represent a majority of regions in the US except the South. TEST.
20th Century Poster Collection
The collection is comprised of approximately 200 posters dating from World War I to the Vietnam Era.
Lillian M. "Jerry" Evans Adams Collection
Lillian M. "Jerry" Evans Adams (1907-2000) was a trumpeter for several all-girl jazz bands during the mid-1920s through the mid-1930s. The collection contains photographs, a VHS videotape, and a trumpet.
Advertisements in North Carolina LGBTQ+ Publications
This LGBTQ+ Publications collections contains issues of newspapers and magazines including The Front Page, Community Connections, Etc,, Cruise, and others, primarily from the 1980s and 1990s. The digital advertisements project presents advertisements for local LGBTQ+ businesses pulled from these publications Businesses featured include bars, bookstores, restaurants, community groups, and other accommodations and services.
Catherine Harris Eller Ainsworth scrapbook
Memory/Scrapbook dated beginning 1926 created by Catherine Harris [Eller Ainsworth] of Elkin, North Carolina. Includes pictures/memorabilia from late High School days in Elkin, NC and beyond including time at the NC College for Women (UNCG). Content is related to school, family, and social life ranging from 1926 - 1944.
Elreta Alexander Papers
Elreta Alexander (1919-1998) worked in the field of law primarily in Greensboro, North Carolina from 1947-1995. She was the first African-American woman to: 1) graduate from Columbia University Law School when she received her degree in 1945, 2) practice law in North Carolina (in Greensboro from 1947-1968), and 3) be elected to the bench when she was elected District Court judge for Guilford County in 1968. When her term as District Court judge for Guilford County ended in 1981, she continued to practice law privately until her retirement in 1995. The collection contains correspondence, news clippings, photographs, personal and work-related legal papers, interview transcripts, election campaign material, resumes, biographical/ genealogical material, writings of and concerning Elreta Alexander, and one Travan-1 backup cartridge dating from 1919-1999.
Nettie Marvin Allen Collection
This scrapbook, created by Nettie Marvin Allen between [DATES?], documents Allen's experience at the State Normal and Industrial School (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Scrapbook materials document Allen's work as a teacher at the State Normal and Industrial School and as a nurse at Westbook Sanatorium Training School in Richmond, Virginia and the State Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Also included are names and signatures of people Allen met, along with descriptions of where and when she met them. There are photographs of college friends, including Mary Webb Nicholson and Anna Gove, who was photographed in France during World War I. Other contents include a receipt for a donation to the Students' Building Fund, a May Day invitation postcard from 1916, invitations to class reunions and the Cornelian Literary Society reunion, and programs for the Class Song of 1895, the Cornelian Reunion of 1909, Commencement Exercises of 1938, Henderson High School Commencement of 1938 and Commencement Program of 1935; and photographs, postcards and newspaper clippings related to the State Normal and Industrial College.
American Publishers Trade Bindings Collection
The American Publishers' Trade Bindings Digital Library presents thousands of book covers which chronicle the development of book binding in the United States. The APTB project contains a variety of both fiction and non-fiction titles, primarily from the Charles M. Adams American Trade Binding Collection, published between the 1830s and the 1920s.

Lev Aronson Musical Score Collection, 1912-1988
Lev Aronson (1912-1988) was a notable performer and teacher of the cello. He co-authored the pedagogical text, The Complete Cellist, with Rudolf Matz, but may be best remembered for his influence as an inspirational teacher to many established cellist of the current generation. In addition to the collection of musical scores, a small collection of personal papers are included in his archive.

Warren Ashby Papers
The Warren Ashby Papers date from 1906 to 1990 and contain correspondence; research materials; speeches; photographs; typescripts; interview transcripts and tape recordings; and sound recordings of political announcements used during Frank Porter Graham's (FPG) 1950 Senate campaign. Frank Porter Graham (1886-1972) was president of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1930 until 1949. He resigned this position when Governor Kerr appointed him to the US Senate to complete the unexpired term of the deceased Sen. Joseph Melville Broughton. Graham lost his bid for election to his own seat in the Senate in 1950 and spent the next nineteen years as a United Nations mediator. He died in 1972 in Chapel Hill.
Mary Frances Ballew Scrapbook
This scrapbook, created Mary Frances Ballew between 1934 and 1938, documents Ballew's student experience at Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook contains ephemera related to Ballew's involvement in the Methodist Church, the Aletheian Literary Society, Rotary Club, and Prosperity Club. There are also notes from friends and classmates, materials related to Ballew's portrayal of the May Day King for the May Day Celebration, and a ticket to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.
Mary Sue Beam Scrapbooks
These scrapbooks, created by Mary Sue Beam between 1919 and 1923, document Beam's experience as a student at the North Carolina College for Women (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook entitled "My Memory Book: North Carolina College" contains lists of friends and addresses with notes, ephemera related to Beam's membership in the YWCA and the Dikean Society, report cards, programs from inter-societal debates, a travel diary of a trip to Washington, D.C.; and materials related to her religious activities as a Baptist. Photographs in this scrapbook include candid and posed shots of friends and classmates, as well as images of class sweaters, 1923 pennants, the hose house, Marshalls, and a 1922 trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, which included visits to Camp Alice and Robert E. Lee Hall in Blue Ridge, NC. The second scrapbook, entitled "Commencement Days," is a preprinted book published by Saalfield Publishing Company in Akron, Ohio. It includes postcards of campus scenes, autographs and notes from friends and classmates, membership cards for the Red Cross and YWCA, ephemera related to membership in the Dikean literary society, an article on the opening of the Alumnae Tea House, a graduation photograph, job offers to teach at North Carolina Schools, a note granting Beam permission to ride in cards with boys, material on the 1923 vocational education float, and ephemera related to her religious activities as a Baptist student.
Titsa G. Beleos Scrapbook
Titsa G. Beleos of Camden, South Carolina, attended the Woman's College at UNC (now UNCG) from 1954-1958. As a freshman, Titsa was in the Dorm Committees, Recreation Association, Top Dance Group, Cosmopolitan Club and Le Circle Francais. As a sophomore, she participated in the Chemistry Club, Medical Technologists, Dorm Committees, Top Dance Group and Le Circle Francais. Her junior year she was on the Dean's List, was Section Leader, Junior Advisor, in the Chemistry Club, Greek Orthodox Club, Medical Technologists, Recreation Association, Dorm Committees and Beta Beta Beta. Her senior year she was in the Botany Club, Greek Orthodox Club, Medical Technologists, Recreation Association, Dorm Committees and Beta Beta Beta. She graduated with an A.B. in Biology, Medical Technology in 1958. The scrapbook, includes photographs, receipts, cards, newspaper clippings and booklets.
Sir Walter Besant Manuscript
Walter Besant (1836-1901) was an English author and social critic. The signed manuscript in this collection is untitled, but is enclosed in a gilt lettered buckram portfolio case that bears the title Queen Victoria's Jubilee. The chapter headings are: "I. The First Prophet," "Chapter 2. The Second Prophet," "III. The Third Prophet," "Ch. IV," and "Ch. V. Of the Future."
Antoinette Black Scrapbook
The scrapbook, created by Antoinette Black between [DATES?], documents Black's experience as a student at the State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook is annotated in ink throughout and includes signatures and comments from classmates, receipts, newspaper clippings, programs, and drawings and paintings by Black, including one depicting the class motto, "Als ich Kann." One receipt shows repayment of "Loan Fund," through which Black's schooling was paid for. Programs include the College song, the Alma Mater, Commencement Invitation of 1911, Commencement Exercises of 1911, Class Day Exercises of 1911, Representative Essays of 1911, and the Annual Sermon of 1911. The scrapbook also contains Cornelian Society material, including an invitation for membership, menus, playbills, and debate programs. Other materials include lyrics for the class and college songs, individual and group photographs of classmates, some with names; calling cards; invitations; and at home cards.

Ennio Bolognini (1893-1979) was an Argentine-born cellist, composer, conductor, pilot, and professional boxer.
Jean Booth Scrapbook
Jean Booth of Oxford, North Carolina, attended the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial College (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1907-1909. The Girl Graduate: Her Own Book scrapbook was published by the Reilly and Britton Co. of Chicago. Booth annotated in black ink throughout the book. The scrapbook includes casual photographs of classmates, newspaper clippings, cards, invitations, signatures of teachers and classmates, receipts, and programs. The programs include play and music programs, Commencement Exercises of 1909 and Class Day Exercises of 1909. Scrapbook contents also include a script for Class Arbor Day Exercises, an application for a school loan, student teaching evaluations from the Training School, and an offer to teach in Greensboro City Schools.
Isabel Carter Bouldin Scrapbook
Isabel Carter Bouldin (later Isabel Carter Bouldin Edmunds) of Greensboro, North Carolina, attended the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1913-1917. She represented her class as Senior Class Vice President in 1917 and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree. The scrapbook, titled My Memory Book, includes mounted photographs, correspondence, clippings, cards, booklets, advertising matter, ribbons, napkins, flowers, fabric scraps, and other memorabilia. The programs consist of the Programs of Commencement exercises, Graduating exercises, Class Day exercises, and the Annual sermons for 1914, 1916 and 1917. Also included are ephemera related to Bouldin's membership in the Cornelian Literary Society, student government (she served as Senior Class Vice President), and 1916 Marshalls.
