Transcript	2/4/1897 . My dear Lula: I have not heard a word from Greensboro since I left Monday. I wrote you on Tuesday that I could not go home as I had intended . It is difficult to get up bills now and if we had not been here I doubt whether the $100,000 would have come up in time to pass. We got through the House last night and one reading in Senate. Roll call on second reading today will decide the amount of opposition. Then 3rd reading tomorrow. I hope to get home tomorrow p.m . Very well-except very tired & sore throat . Love to you all affy Yr. husband , Charles D. McIver.
