Description	This photograph shows women browsing inside the bookstore in the Elliott Student Union in September 1965. The Book Store was located on the first floor of Administration Building from 1925 until 1932. From 1932 until 1949, it was situated in the Students’ Building. In 1949, the Book Store moved to the basement of South Spencer Dormitory and remained there until the completion of Elliott Hall (now Elliott University Center) in1953, where it found its permanent home. This building, designed by Northrup O’Brien of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, opened in 1953. It was named in honor of Harriet Wiseman Elliott who came to the College in 1913 and was Dean of Women from 1935 to 1947. The building was expanded and renovated in 1968. In April 1974, the name of the building was changed from Elliott Student Union, commonly known as “Elliott Hall,” to Elliott University Center.
