can
be
seen
on the
balcony
of the
Elliott
Student
Union
. The
Terrace
, or
“Patio,”
opened
in
1953
, at the
same
time
that the
first
wing
of
Elliott
Student
Union
was
built
.
It
is
located
behind
Elliott
University
Center
and
includes
the
pavers
and
kidney
shaped
fountain
.

opened
in
1953
.
It
was
named
in
honor
of
Harriet
Wiseman
Elliott
who
came
to the
College
in
1913
and was
Dean
of
Women
from
1935
to
1947
. From
1953
until
1958
, the
Elliott
Student
Union
housed
the
campus
post
office
. The
building
was
expanded
and
renovated
in
1968
. In
April
1974
, the
name
of the
building
was
changed
from
Elliott
Student
Union
,
commonly
known
as
“Elliott
Hall,”
to
Elliott
University
Center
.
