Il est bel et bon
There were two women in the country.
One said to the other "Do you have a good husband?"
"He is handsome and good, my husband.
He doesn't get angry, and he doesn't beat me either.
He does the housework and takes care of the chickens,
and I enjoy life's pleasures.
My husband, it's laughable when the chickens cluck.
He is handsome and good, my husband."
Tota pulchra es
Thou art all fair, Mary, and the stain of original sin is not in thee.
Your vestments are as white as snow, and your face is like the sun.
You are the glory of Jerusalem, the joy of Israel, and the honor of our people.
Hotaru Koi
Firefly, come!
The water over there is bitter, the water here is sweet.
Firefly, come up this mountain path.
Firefly's daddy struck it rich, no wonder his tail sparkles.
In the daytime he hides in the dewy grass, but when it's night, his lantern burns bright.
We've flown all the way from India, and those sparrows swarm to swallow us.
Firefly, come! See a thousand lanterns sparkling in the dark.
Viva Tutte
Here’s to all the graceful women, loveable and gracious.
They have no cruelty!
Here’s to that which always comes from them:
The greatest happiness!
Vinea mea electa
Vine that I have loved as my own,
I it was who planted thee, chose thee and planted thee;
Why is all thy sweetness turned into gall and bitterness?
Why wouldst thou crucify Me and take Barrabas in my place?
I fenced thee sound, I took the hard stones away,
Took them from thy path and built a tower in thy defense.
Fa una canzone
Sing, sing a song for me of joy and gladness,
Sing, sing a song to ease my heart from madness,
Make it a song filled with slumber and longing,
Ah, so sweetly the gentle tones prolonging
Sing, sing a song for me with notes alluring,
Sing, sing a melody of love enduring
Make it a song filled with slumber and longing,
Ah, so sweetly the gentle tones prolonging
Amore de mi alma
I was born to love only you;
My soul has formed you to its measure;
I want you as a garment for my soul.
Your very image is written on my soul;
Such indescribable intimacy
I hide even from you.
All that I have, I owe to you;
For you I was born, for you I live,
For you I must die, and for you
I give my last breath.
Dixit Dominus
The Lord said unto my Lord:
sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
your footstool
The scepter of your power
the Lord shall send forth from Zion
Rule thou in the midst of your enemies
The power to rule on the day of might is with you,
in the splendor of the holy ones
I have begotten you from the womb
before the rising of the day-star.
The Lord has sworn an oath
and will not repent of it
You are a priest for ever,
after the order of Melchisedech.
The Lord at your right hand
destroys kings on the day of his wrath
He shall judge among the heathen;
he shall pile up ruins
and scatter skulls on many lands
He shall drink of the torrent in his way;
therefore he shall lift up his head.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
and for generations of generations. Amen.
