Exterior view of the Hotel Guilford, located at South Elm Street and West Sycamore Street (now February One Place) in Greensboro. The Hotel Guilford was built on the site of the former Benbow Hotel following an 1899 fire. In approximately 1930, the hotel was replaced by the F.W. Woolworth store where the first "sit-ins" of the civil rights movement occurred in 1960. That building is now home to the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. |
