joined
the
Army
Nurse
Corps
in
October
1942
as a
second
lieutenant
and
reported
to a
general
hospital
at
Camp
Davis
in
Wilmington
,
North
Carolina
. She
remained
there
through
March
of
1944
,
when
she was
sent
briefly
to
Camp
Forrest
,
Tennessee
, and then to
Camp
Blanding
,
Florida
, to
prepare
for
overseas
duty
. She
served
as a
nurse
supervisor
with the
369th
and
176th
station
hospitals
in
Saipan
from
September
1944
to the
fall
of
1945
,
when
she
became
assistant
chief
nurse
of the
204th
general
hospital
in
Guam
.
Libby
returned
to the
United
States
early
the
next
year
and was
discharged
with the
rank
of
captain
in
October
1946
. She
married
Edwin
Clark
Libby
after
the
war
.
