Carolina
. She
attended
Woman’s
College
and
graduated
with a
degree
in
physical
education
in
1939
.
Potts
taught
for
two
years
in
Rocky
Mount
,
North
Carolina
,
worked
on a
Works
Progress
Administration
(WPA)
project
in
Fayetteville
,
North
Carolina
.
Potts
joined
the
Red
Cross
in
December
of
1942
. She was
assigned
to the
23rd
Street
YMCA
in
New
York
City
,
where
she
accompanied
French
sailors
on
tours
of the
city
. In
1943
she was
sent
overseas
to
work
as a "
doughnut
girl
" in
England
,
France
, and
Germany
.
After
leaving
the
Red
Cross
,
Potts
settled
in
Allentown
,
Pennsylvania
,
where
she
worked
with the
Girls
Scouts
of
America
. She
died
on
18
June
,
2012
.
