Complicated Cases.
Occasionally there will be found in a case of Kidney Disease, or other disC.
lse that Dr. Fenner"s Kidney and Backache C_ure is adapted to cure, biliousness
and torpidity of the liver and bowels and of the whole glandular system
throughout the stomach and bowels in general.
In such cases the remedy finds itself estopped, as it were, and unable to act
in the direction of a cure wilh its accustomed vigor.
Whenever from these or other causes the cure is not progressing satisfactorily,
remove the obstructions or hindrances by using Dr. Fenner's
BLOOD AND LIVER [Mandrake] PELLETS.·
Take-4 to 8 (according as easy or hard to move) of the Pellets at bed-time,
as found necessary to"give a full and free action of the bowels. Take no other
medicine until they operate freely the next day. This can be repeated in 2 or
3 weeks, if needed.
The action of the Mandrake Pellets is searching, fsr reaching and most therough, acting upon
all the glands of the body, especially the Liver, exr:t:'lg them to a more energetic performance
of their functions, in taking up and removing al' worn out, effete and deleterious particles of
matter from the blood and tissues, thereby cleansing, purifying and rt>novating the entire system-
1!ollds and fluids alike. They do not, like ordinary cathartic medicines, ltlave the bowels
debilitated and costive after their action.
These Pellets do not physic of themselves but it is the foul matter they
~ause the glands to throw off into the intestinal canal, that acts as the physic.
flow much better off is the system by the removal of this effete and offen ive
matter out of the blood ! ARd how much clearer the complexion and the
head and intellect on account of it, and how much the healing and restorative
power of nature· has be~n augmented thereby! This method of physic therefore
does not weaken but strengthens the system instead.
[If there is some nausea and uncomfortable feelings, while they are working and before and
after their operation, it only shows how great has been their need, and that they are doing their
work most thoroughly. After the action is over their great benefit is realized and the Kidney
and Backache Cure will then become doubly effective.]
Begin the use of the Kidney and Backache Cure as soon after the operation
as the stomach gets well settled. If the free movement does not occur as expected,
repeat the Pellets the second night.
Dr. Fenner's Backache Plaster.
If pain, soreness or lameness over spine or kidneys, apply Dr. Fenner's
Backache Plaster. It is specially compounded to harmonize with his Kidney
and Backache Cure, more or less absorption of its healing ingredients taking
place into the circulation, where the two meet and together make for cure.
No specific medicine, like the Kidney and Backache Cure, and the Backache
Plaster, can give the best results when confronted by a torpid condition of
the glandular system.
But by relieving the torpidities as above directed, those otherwise slow cases

AND BENEFITS ALL OTHER CHRONIC DISEASES.
It is good for such diseases because it helps
to expel from the blood and tissues the impurities,
straining them off through the Liver,
Bowelr, Kidneys and Skin, by promoting in
these organs renewed andnormalactivitywithout
weakening, but all the w bile strengthening
instead, enriching the Blood, restoring the
!erves-and so building up the system.
It will aid the Liver to throw o1f Its Bile thus
cleaning out the stomach and bowels, ridding
them, the blood and the entire system of offensive
and disease-producing matter and restorthe
nerves-thereby giving good sleep by
night, appetite, flesh, comfort, freshness and
bloom-in a word, HEALTH. Its action is
generally rapid and permanent.
DISEASE
Is the abnormal action of one or more of the great orge.ns or life
Tho cause of disease may be whatever can
act upon the system so as to produce the abnor
al condition. It may be gone or still acting
when the patient comes under treatment.
The cure of disease is first to remove the
cause, as far as known, and then the administration
of sucl! remedies as will correct the
abnormal conditions and restore the injured
tissues to a healthy state.
I IT STRIKES AT THE ROOT
OF DISEASE.
The reason this Remedy is so actively curative
in cases of recent or chronic ailment is
because it is so made up as to promote to th'3ir
normal activity the organs, glands and tiss .. es
of the body, at the same time toning r ,1 and
restoring the nerves. It thus strikes logically
at the root of the disease, and while the abnormal
condition is thus being corrected, it
restores ·the nen•ea and injured tissues, and
enriches the blood.
Here is an illustration in point : A stove
Page 14 DR. FE!'HffiR'S PEOPLE'S REMEDIES COOK J300K
filled with ashes and clinkers ceases t6 give
out heat , The fire runs down and finally dies.
To restore th~ fire and prevent death is not to
add more fuel, because the drafts, which are
its organs of life, being clogged, the sto'l"e
cannot use' the fuel already on, and the fire
continues to die. The remedy needed here is
to shake out the ashes and debris, thereby removing
the obstruction to the drafts, wheroupon
the fire again burns; At the same time
add fuel and the stove resumes all its normal
functions of life and heat. .
Exactly so with the human system t When
eome or all of the great organs of the body
(drafts) become torpid, secretion and e~crotions
slacken, the blood gradually fills with im·
purities and depression (the "Blues") and dis·
ease are the result. The fire of life becomes
smothered and begins to die out. Food and
tonic medicines alone only add to the obstruction
and hasten decay, because the diseased
system cannot appropriate them to its use.
But if we now administer a remedy that can
promote to activity the .liver, bowel~, sto~ch,
kidneys, skin and all the great emnnctones or
sewers of the system (alterative), enabling
them to shake out the ashes and debris, so to
speak, and open up the drafts of the system,
the fire of life at once rekindles. If, In addition
to that, our remedy contains elementa
that will add vigor to the weakened and In·
jured tissues (nerve tonic) and richn8!11 to the
blood (restorative) we have then fond the
compound that in the highest degree conduces
to the restoration of health.
Aided by the experience of a lifetime and
the latest and constant contributions of exact
science to the healing art, Dr. Fenner Ia enabled
to present such a remedy in
THIS GREAT COMPOUND.
The cures it has already wrought are many.
It is a Vegetable Compound, so made up of
the choicest plants, carefully collected from
many countries and climes, asto posess the
rarest Alterative or Blood-cleansing and Purifying,
together with Healing and Nerve Tonic
or Strengthening Restorative and Blood Enriching
properties combined.
Dr. Fenner's Kidney and Dackache Curo is
descri!Jed on another page. It IS a gre::t
Remedy. As there stated, the highest degree
of efficiency is frequently attained by using a
bottle of this Remedy and then ·a bottle of that
in alteration.
It is an Excellent Remedy to give in
connection wi some of the Special Remedies
that follow in this circular, like Golden Re·
· fin "Inflammation," Asthma and Consumption;
Cough-Cold Syrup in Lung Diseases;
Kidney and Backache Cure in Kidney Disease,

aid in any condition where a special

Running Sore on Leg.
Samuel T. Johnston, Mt. Jewett, Pa.,writes Dr.
Fenner:
"Dear Sir:-1 have used your Golden Relief
for the past 16 or 11 years for many ailments,
such as headache, neuralgia, toothache, backache,
bruises and cuts. I had a running sore
on my leg that caused me a great deal of trouble.
I doctored with several doctors but they
could not help me and told me I would lose my
• leg. It pained me terribly and one evening I
made up my mind I must do something and
poured Golden Relief on the sore. The next
morning my leg was a great deal better. I
applied the Golden Relief 4 or 5 times and my
leg healed up within a week. I feel very
grateful to you for your medicine. There is no
better in the world for cramps, colds, aches
and pains, bruises, cuts, sprains, old sores, etc.
I am going to Alaska in about ten days and
will take several bottles of your Golden Relief
with me."

JELLIES and CANNING. Cured of Grip,
Jellies.
All fruit jellies are made so much alike, that
.a few general directions are sufficient. For
berries, currants, or grapes, heat the fruit,
striiu it and add 1 pound of sugar to each
pint of juice. Crab-apple, quinces or apples
must be stewed before straining; and to apple
jelly mav be added the juice of 4 lemons to 6
pints of apple juice.
Crab-apple is improved by i pie-plant. For
any jelly, boil the juice about 20 minutes. Add
the sugar, and let it boil 2 or 3 minutes more.
Always have the sugar hot when yon put it in.
Ginger Pears.
8 pounds of fruit; 4 pounds of sugar; 1
pound of ginger root (green); juice of 4
lemons; 1 tumbler of water. .
Rind of lemons to be cut thin and long.
Peal and cut pears into thin slices (cannot be
too thin). Boil! of an hour. Use hard, green
pears.
Brandy Peaches.
18 pounds of loaf sugar to 20 pounds of
whole peaches. Boil the peaches slowly till
they become transparent; take them out and
spread on dishes to cool. Boil the juice to a
thick syrup; add 1 pint of brandy to 1 quart of
syrup. Pour syrup over peaches hot.
()berries.
Stone cherries; and if sour, allow i pound o!

and aan directly.
Anthony Knzneske, Fredonia, N.Y., writes Dr.
Fenner:
"Dear Sir:-I had been laid up 2 days with
Grip. Medical treatment had done me no good.
At noon I began your Golden Relief and Cough
Honey. Sweat freely during the night. Slept
well and returned to my work completely cured
at noon the next day. Meanwhile my wife
came down with the Grip. I treated her the
same way and with the same result."
Diphtheria,
Mrs. A. A. McGranahan, Platteville, Wis.,

E. G. Lane, Buffalo, N. Y., writes Dr. Fenner:
"Dear Sir:-I wish to inform you that the
medicine you sent me has, I think, cured my
cold, although I am still a little bit hoarse.
Mrs. Lane was, I think, in worse shape than I
was when the medicine arrived and she is now
entirely well, and I wish to thank you again
for your kindness in letting me know what
would cure the Grippe."

Rusty Nail in Foot.

the sole of my foot about an inch. I at once
bound salt pork on the wound, but at the end
of twelve hours my foot had swollen and hecame
so painful that the doctor feared Tetanus,
or lock jaw.
I then procured Dr. Fenner's Golden Relief
and immersed my foot in it up to the top of
the sole. The pain ceased at once and never
returned. Within a few hours I could step on
it. Next day I pulled on- my boot and never

My bowels are natural enough; have had watery
passages but twice since taking your medicine.
