IV. GRANT FUNDING SPECIFICS
A. Being as specific as possible, what is the particular initiative, project or activity for which funds are now being requested from the Guilford Green Foundation?
PFLAG has a national conference in McLean, VA in October of 2007. We have 10 board members scheduled to attend the Education Track at the conference. PFLAG has developed an excellent program for training and service to schools. GLSEN no longer holds a national conference. Attendance at the PFLAG conference education track will provide the education we previously received through GLSEN.
In addition, Thursday the 11th is a Lobby Day. Five our board members will be present to talk to our NC Senators and Representatives about GLBT issues. 3
B. For the particular initiative, project or activity described in (IV.A) above, what is the total dollar amount Grantseeker is requesting from the Guilford Green Foundation?
$3,500
C. What is the total budget for the particular initiative, project or activity described in (IV.A) above?
$6,414.47
D. Have other funds been raised or allocated toward meeting the budget identified in (IV.C) above?
Yes □ No

Application?
Attendees are responsible for their own food and transportation. This is estimated to be a total cost of $1,796.40. In addition, GSAFE has allocated $1,118.07 from their funds. Total raised or allocated is $2,914.47.
E. If the particular initiative, project or activity described in (IV.A) above is an ongoing program, please describe plans for continued funding of this program.
PFLAG does not have a conference every year.

V. GRANT RECEIPT SPECIFICS
A. If Grantseeker were to receive a Guilford Green Foundation grant for the particular initiative, project or activity described in (IV.A) above, how exactly would those funds be allocated and used? Please be as specific as possible.
5
B. If Grantseeker were to receive a Guilford Green Foundation grant for the particular initiative, project or activity described in (IV.A) above, please describe the method of implementation, whether staffing will be involved, and the number and type of volunteers, if any, who will support implementation.
Room reservations are made with the hosting hotel. Conference fees are paid directly to PFLAG. We are carpooling as much as possible. Ten of our board members are attending the conference.
C. If Grantseeker were to receive a Guilford Green Foundation grant for the particular initiative, project or activity described in (IV.A) above, what outcome is envisioned? What accomplishments or changes may result?
Attendance at a national conference would help board members affirm their commitment to the work of GSAFE. It is important for them to see that they are part of a national movement to make schools safe for all GLBT individuals. The education track will also provide the opportunity to see workshop presentations that are different than the ones currently provided by GSAFE. It will help refresh our training techniques.
D. What tools or measures will you apply to evaluate the success or failure of a Guilford Green Foundation grant?
Success will be determined by the sense of excitement and commitment by the board members attending. In addition, utilizing newly learned training techniques from the conference will indicate success.
VI. OTHER INFORMATION
A. Is there anything not already covered in this Grant Application you would like the Guilford Green Foundation to know about your organization or institution?
We are pleased with the progress GSAFE has made since its beginning in August of 2005. We now have 19 people on our board representing a very diverse population including African American, Jewish, transgender, straight, gay, male, female and high school youth. We plan on adding a college student this fall when students return from the summer break.
We are working closely with the Diversity Officer for Guilford County Schools. One of the projects we have with them is “In This Classroom”. It is a sign GSAFE made and have been getting students to have teachers post in their classrooms. We thought we would need to get a GGF grant to make enough of them. However, with our work through the schools they have decide to print and produce them so every classroom in Guilford County Schools will have access to them. They are printing and laminating 4,300 signs so every classroom, including elementary school classrooms can have one. (See attached)
We are also extending our “Student Network” to include working with college students. We have initiated a new E-letter for GLBT Education information. We are in the process of setting up an alternate e-letter for middle school, high school and college students. Our hopes are to help provide communication between college students and provide communication between high school students. We believe it will be helpful for each group to know what other groups are doing.
B. Assuming money were no object, what unmet needs in our community would your organization or institution like to see addressed?
