Off Capital Campaign
; first multi-million dollar
pital campaign — titled
"A New Era of Distinction" — in March.
Kickoff ceremonies were held at Lowe's Motor
Speedway in Concord, and more than 165
business and community leaders, including
U.S. Representative Robin Hayes, attended
the festivities.
The campaign's goal is $5.1 million. Of
this amount, $3.0 million has already been
donated through major pledges, including:
$507,000 from the United Negro College
Fund (UNCF) for technology, $60,000 from
CT Communications, $50,000 from the
Presbyterian Church (USA), $250,000 from
The Cannon Foundation, $15,000 from a boar
member and a previous contribution from
Philip Morris.
Campaign funds will be used to improve
academic programs, technology, scholarships,
endowments and campus facilities.
The Rev. William Stewart, Chairman of
the Board of Trustees, announced the official
transfer of property from the Presbyterian
Church to the board.

The College expecrs to raise the remainder
of the $5.1 million over the next 18 months.
