Description	This May 17, 1973, memorandum from University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Chancellor James Sharbrough Ferguson to the UNCG Board of Trustees states that a request for dismissal of a suit filed over his decision on the status of the Neo-Black society based on the fact that all internal appeal options have not been exhausted. On March 26, 1973, SGA had voted to reclassify (removed funding and recognition from) the Neo-Black Society. The SGA decision was overturned by university administration on the basis of faulty evidence and improper procedure by SGA, resulting in an eventual legal case that led to the Neo-Black Society's reinstatement as a recognized and funded organization.

Full text	May 17, 1973 MEMORANDUM TO: Members of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro FROM: James S. Ferguson Mr. Richard H. Robinson, Jr. informed me this morning that the Attorney General's Office is filing today with the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, Greensboro Division, a request for dismissal of the complaint of Douglas Stephen Harris, et al. , dated April 30, 1973, because the plaintiffs have not exhausted administrative remedies within the University. The brief points out that an appeal from the Student Senate is currently before the Board of Trustees of the University.
