Description	This May 8, 1973, memorandum from University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Chancellor James Sharbrough Ferguson to the UNCG Board of Trustees is a notification that an appeal of Ferguson's decision on the status of the Neo-Black Society will be presented to the board. On March 26, 1973, SGA had voted to reclassify (removed funding and recognition from) the Neo-Black Society. The SGA decision was overturned by university administration on the basis of faulty evidence and improper procedure by SGA, resulting in an eventual legal case that led to the Neo-Black Society's reinstatement as a recognized and funded organization.

Full text	?? e>d May 8, 1973 MEMORANDUM Members of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro James S. Ferguson, Chancellor On Friday, May 4, 1973, I received notice that the Student Senate is officially presenting to the Board of Trustees an appeal from my decision of March 31, 1973, declaring the reclassification of the Neo-Black Society invalid. A copy of the appeal is enclosed. I have been in communication with Mr. Beverly C. Moore, Chairman of the Board, concerning this matter. He indicates that he will notify you of the time and procedures for hearing the appeal. We shall keep you informed of all developments concerning this matter. vjd Enclosure
