Dear Dr. Ferguson:
I thought you might be interested in seeing
copies of newspaper clippings concerning the
cafeteria strike. Our statewide clipping
service has sent us a good number, though I
suspect it missed some clips along the way.
I have copied the clippings and they are
enclosed to you. Altogether, there are over
70, I believe. Some of the stories, the News
Bureau initiated, and others were filed on
the wire by the local newspapers. As you can
understand it is difficult for a campus News
Bureau to maintain control over news of this
kind when the papers have their own reporters
on campus.
But overall, I believe the University did not
really suffer in the public's eyes on the basis
of what was printed in the newspapers. Most of
it was factual and to the point.
Cordially,
Wilson Davis
