SAME LETTER TO Mr. Erskine Walther
June 20, 1969
Mr. Lindsay Lams on
Town Student Legislative Delegation
208 Elliott Hall
The Campus
Dear Mr. Lamson:
I am writing to acknowledge receipt of the letter that you
and Mr. Erskine Walther addressed to me on June 12, 1969.
I do not as yet have a full report to give you on the status
of negotiations of the new food service contract for 1968-1969.
Every effort is being made to introduce some options in the contract
that is to be available to students. We now anticipate that students
will be able to choose between a 15-meal-per-week and a 21-meal-
per-week agreement. It remains to be seen what companies other
than Slater will be involved in the letting of the contract. We
discovered, for instance, that the proprietor of Mel's was interested
only in operating the Soda Shop. He did not express an interest in the
overall contract.
I will give you a fuller report when negotiations are at a more
advanced stage.
Sincerely yours,
James S. Ferguson
Chancellor
