After much controversy and mudslinging .back and
forth, the investigation of the Neo-Black Society is closed.
Finally. - ,
The formal hearing was held Sunday afternoon lasting
long into the evening, and the statement from the
Committee on Classification of Organizations was released
at noon Monday. The official report of the committee
- stated^each ^harg^^-that bad been brought-fortlv and-tlien-
gave the reason why the group felt if was without grounds.
The entire list of accusations was^uled invalid.
Though there is ^possibility that the aeeusing^ siudent? -
willpursue. the matter by appealing to the student senate,
as of now the issue seems to be closed. But we think the
subject is not dropped. The investigation has caused quite
a stir among black and white and many hard feelings in
Iri fact the entire mess has left a bad taste in the mouth
of more than-we <ian count. The members of NBS will
undoubtedly remember the event-far a time to come, and,
so will the others on campus. Despite efforts to keep.
.they sneaked into the
mudslinging ^anyway and when SGA nominations and
campaigns J>egin the issue will surely come up more than
once.
We^are sorry for this. Though many students think
otherwise, the steps taken against NBS were done in good
TaTfhUh~ffie~paFf of "the students involved. If is easy to
scream politics when actions such as these are taken, but
we* do not think that was actually the motivation of the
investigating group, Wfr would rather remember those
involved as students who tried to act in the interest of
their fellow students. We hope you Will.
