Mr. George Watts Hill
Central Carolina Bank Building
Durham, North Carolina
Dear Watts:
It was very kind of you to write me on November 17
with regard to my statements concerning the "Black Power
Forum" that was held on this campus at the beginning of
November. I have had no doubts concerning the position that
I needed to take but, needless to say, I have been a bit anxious
about the public's misunderstanding of the principle involved.
Bob Scott's statement simply encouraged such misunderstanding.
I appreciate very much your good words of encouragement.
Cordially,
James S. Ferguson
