RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO INVESTIGATE,
REVIEW AND TAKE SUCH COURSE OF ACTION DEEMED APPROPRIATE ARISING OUT
OF THE INCIDENT OCCURRING ON NOVEMBER 3, 1979 IN THE CITY OF GREENSBORO
WHEREAS, previous investigations have been conducted arising out of the
events of November 3, 1979, during the confrontation between members of the
Communist Worker's Party and the Ku Klux Klan during an Anti-Klan Rally;
WHEREAS, the U.S. Justice Department is currently conducting a further
investigation concerning the said incident and the participants therein specifically
involved in the confrontation;
WHEREAS, in view of recent interest being expressed concerning such
activities of the groups involved, it is deemed in the best interest of the City to
request that the U.S. Department of Justice initiate any further investigation and
take such course of action as may be deemed appropriate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GREENSBORO:
That the U.S. Department of Justice is hereby requested to investigate,
review and take such course of action deemed appropriate with respect to
individuals or groups specifically involved in the incident of November 3, 1979,
in the City of Greensboro.
