Dear friend of the Greensboro Justice Fund,
Winning our civil rights suit against the Klan, city of Greensboro, various federal agencies, and government agents like Bernard
Butkovich will take more than dedicated attorneys (many of whom have
already taken out personal loans to continue full time work on this
case), more than depositions, and even more than getting into court.
Without broad public awareness and support, our case could easily
be buried or dropped. I'm sure you will agree that we are already
witnessing the effects of the Klan acquittal in Greensboro--escala-
tion of right wing terror, the brutal murders of Black children in
Atlanta, and the rise of anti-Semitism. Never has the need to get
our case open and out to the public been more urgent.
To accomplish this we must in 1981 reach hundreds of thousands
of American citizens through the mail to inform them about the real
facts concerning the Greensboro Massacre and how it affects each one
of us in this country. We must build political support and begin
raising the dollars it will take to see this case through successfully.
This effort will take time, energy, and dollars, but it must
happen if we are to win.
To help us launch this next step, as always we must turn to
you, our most committed and caring supporters. How successful we
are will depend much on how you respond to this appeal.
I urge you to make a contribution and to make it as quick as
possible. If you can send $25, $50 or more, it will go a long
way, but whatever the size of your contribution, I assure you, it
will be greatly appreciated and carefully used.
For all we have been able to accomplish, I thank you. Please
continue to stand with us.
S incerely,
VA.
