Martin
(1911-1993)
was a
reporter-turn-staff
photographer
for the
daily
newspaper
in
Roanoke
,
Virginia
in the
1930s
. In
1938
he
came
the
first
full-time
staff
photographer
for the
Greensboro
Daily
News
where
he
worked
until
1947
. He
opened
Martin's
Studio
in
1946
,
working
through
the
early
1990s
photographing
a
wide
range
of
Greensboro
citizens
.
While
he was the
majority
owner
of the
business
, he
shared
the
work
with his
partner
Malcolm
"
Tex
"
Miller
and
sometimes
their
lab
technician
,
Miller’s
brother-in-law
,
Clarence
Tucker
.
Martin
was
known
as "
C.W.
" He
died
in
July
1993
.
