Minutes of the meetings held May 28, June 14 and August 4
were approved as read. President Milner mentioned two items in
the minutes. First, he reported that the summer school commencement was carried out as outlined and that our effort to cooperate
with the Quaker men in their special program had seemed worthwhile. The attendance was probably the largest we have ever had
at the summer school commencement exercises. Second, he reported
that the original communication regarding non-segregaticn had
been handed to the Board of Trustees and that numerous conferences
and executive sessions had followed. Late in July, Dr. Purdom had
had a conference with the chairman of the Board of Trustees at
the latter1 s invitation and Dr. Purdom reported that Itr. Frazier
had discussed with him some details concerning this petition and
had promised that when the Board of Trustees so desired, an invitation would be transmitted to the special faculty committee to
meet with a committee from the Board. President Miner stated
that this committee was a standing committee of the faculty and
that any one having suggestions or information for the committee was
at liberty to present it at any time. Dr. Love joy said he had some
information which he would like to present. President Milner asked
Dr. Purdom to call a meeting of his committee soon.
