arrested

spring
1963
for
participation
in
civil
rights
protests
.
Beth
grew
up
in a
Quaker
family
in
Pennsylvania
and
participated
in
service
work
in
Philadelphia
as a
teenager
. She
brought
her
hope
for
change
and
social
justice
with her to
Guilford
and
became
active
in
Congress
of
Racial
Equality
(CORE)
activities
in
Greensboro
.
Taylor
later
transferred
,
graduated
from
Pennsylvania
State
, and
went
into
social
work
.

proud

Beth

worry

much

work
