Description
The 1978 yearbook contains a photograph of the UNCG Softball’s team winning the State Championship of 1977 , a photograph of the “Last Great Beer Blast” and an article about the North Carolina General Assembly prohibiting the sale of alcohol on N.C . campuses . The yearbook features a photograph and article about Art Buchwald’s visit to campus , and an article entitled , “A Founders Day tribute to the Co-Founders” celebrating the University’s eighty-fifth anniversary . It also contains a photograph of singers Harry and Tom Chapin , a student ID and interview of “Nappie” , the first canine student . The yearbook of the institution known since 1963 as The University of North Carolina at Greensboro was published between 1902 and 1993 , first as The Decennial (1902) , later as The Carolinian (1909-1917) , and finally as Pine Needles (1920-1993) .
