My dear Sweetheart:
I feel discouraged. Our conference last night with Jarvis, Simmons, and Pon was attended by W. D. Turner G.N. Wilson Senators Williams and Smith, Dr. Lewis R. H. Battle, Alderman & myself. I cannot write an account of it but one thing is settled. We must give up the hope of bonds and may get $5,000 a year for two years for some purpose, provided the triumvirate can get permission from headquarters to allow it to pass.
Don’t discuss anything I have written except to say that intense opposition has developed to increasing our appropriation or any other.
