| Description | Several documents written to Charles D. McIver concern the typhoid outbreak in the fall of 1899. A few editorials and other printed documents concern the outbreak. There are reports of the outbreak from Dr. Anna M. Gove, Dr. A.C. Abbott of the laborartory of hygeine of the University of Pennsylvannia, a plumbing and sanitation engineer's report, and the State Board of Health. Of interest is a critical editorial written to the News and Observer by Dr. G.M. Ivie who questioned the media coverage of the outbreak, and his opinion of the competence of Charles D. McIver as president of the State Normal and Industrial School. There are also letters of encouragement from students swearing to return to the college the folllowing January. |
