Emily Whitney Ross (1965- ) graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), formerly Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, in 1981 with a major in speech communication with a concentration in organizational communication. Ross discusses the impressive faculty and coursework, which gave her a good preparation for graduate school. She recalls dorm life with its restrictions, how things changed when alcohol was not allowed on campus, her memories of Residential College and the influence of Tate Street. Ross talks about the weekend life of the out-of-state students (being from Maryland), the lack of school spirit attributed to having many commuting students, the move to Division I athletics and problems with student services and parking. She feels she received a quality education at UNCG.
