Charles R. Hayes (1919-2003) was a faculty member in the Department of Geography from 1968-1988 at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Hayes recalls joining the UNCG faculty, the focus and growth of the geography department and the changes that occurred as the institution grew larger and became coeducational. He talks about Dean Mereb Mossman and Chancellors Otis Singletary, James Ferguson and William Moran; the atmosphere at UNCG during the unrest of the sixties and the move to Division I athletics. He describes his ideas for campus building placement in regard to safety and his concerns about building parking decks.
