Mary Motsinger Evans (1916-2011) graduated in 1936 with a degree in biology from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (WCUNC), now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After graduating from WCUNC, she taught biology for two years in East Bend, North Carolina, married, and worked for Esso (Exxon) for over thirty-four years. <br /><br > Evans recalls attending WCUNC during the mid 1930s. She discusses the effects of the Great Depression on the college, how the college Dairy Farm helped feed the students, and campus traditions such as the Daisy Chain and class jackets. Evans describes the teachers and counselors who had the most influence on her, including Bernice Draper, Harriet Elliott, John P. Givler, Earl H. Hall, and Jane Summerell. She concludes the interview by talking about her life after graduating from college.
