Adele Celeste Ulrich (1924- 2011) graduated from Woman's College, now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, in 1946. She was a faculty member in the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at the University from 1956-1979. She also served as the president of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Ulrich discusses her time at the University, both as a student and as a faculty member. She recalls faculty members Mary Channing Coleman, Harriet Elliott, Marc Friedlaender, Ethel Martus, and Katherine Taylor. She describes what it was like being on campus during World War II and the integration of the School in 1956. She also discusses the University under the guidance of the Chancellors William Whatley Pierson, Gordon Williams Blackwell, Otis Arnold Singletary, and James Sharbrough Ferguson. She describes what it was like to be a residence hall counselor, her love for training dogs, and her time as the president of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.
