Dr. Linda McNeal was born in Greenboro, NC in 1944. She attended Watt's Hospital School of Nursing after graduating from Rankin High School in 1962, attaining her nursing degree (RN) in August of 1965. McNeal then began working at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She took classes at UNCG starting in the early 70s and attained her BSN degree in 1974. McNeal continued to work at Cone during this time and also later attained her MSN degree from UNCG in 1976. McNeal returned to work at Cone after her MSN degree and became Assistant Director of Nursing/ Director of Staff Development. McNeal began teaching Nursing at UNCG in 1988. She returned to school again and attained her Ph.D. in Counseling and Counseling Education in 1997. In this interview, McNeal discusses her education, career in nursing, the field of nursing, being a student at UNCG, courses, professors, and deans in the UNCG School of Nursing, and changes in the field and nursing education over her career. McNeal ends the interview discussing how UNCG has affected her life, what it means to her, and the future of UNCG's School of Nursing.
