Dr. Rosemary O. Nelson-Gray was born January 29, 1945 in Flint, Michigan. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of St. Louis and her Master's degree from the Institute of Psychiatry in London in 1966-1967. She continued at the State University of New York at Stony Brook for her Ph.D in Clinical Psychology, which she received in 1972. Since 1971, Dr. Gray has been teaching at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Dr. Gray has written several scholarly articles, co-authored books, served on editorial board of nine different journals, and has won the UNCG Research Award. Dr. Gray's research interests include clinical psychology, personality or temperament bases of adult psychology, with an emphasis on personality disorders. In her interview, Dr. Rosemary O. Nelson-Gray discusses her early life, the becoming of the field of Behavioral Psychology, and her time at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
