Dr. Richard Cox arrived at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1960 and worked until 2001 when he retired. Dr. Cox taught in the School of Music as a voice private lessons teacher, dictation teacher, and choir director. He has written several textbooks on diction in singing in English, French and German. He has served the community in several capacities, including: establishing the Bel Canto Company, founding staff of the Greensboro Opera Company and serving as chorus master in the company for 15 years, and conducting the choir at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for 50 years. In his interview, Dr. Cox discusses his time at UNCG, the School of Music, and his work in the Greensboro Committee.
