Description
Charles Cole (1947- ) is a member of the Class of 1969 at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and was a business administration and economics major. Cole describes his reasons for enrolling at UNCG as a male African-American student, dormitory and off-campus living and the gender and race discrimination he experienced. He discusses city-wide and campus unrest during the civil rights era, especially upon the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. He talks about campus traditions and being a part of the formation of the first men's basketball team. He says that he would not change his choice of college even though the challenges he faced were great.
