Speeches and published statements made by Dr. Charles Duncan McIver and essays about him and the foundations of the State Normal and Industrial College. Topics include, a survey request to Dr. McIver to the young women of the college, a pamphlet from the Educational Exhibit of the 1896 State Fair, an essay by Elizabeth Phillips, an essay called "Resume of History of the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina", another essay about the college's history from 1941, and newspaper essays by Dr. McIver one of which is from 1897 and the other from 1898. An original draft of the first essay is also included.
