Description
Letter and documents written to and by Dr. Charles McIver. Topics include the impossibility of salesman calling on McIver on the 17th of that same month when the request for a visit was made on the 20th, visits from salesmen and spokespeople for various products and institutions, the ability or inability of students to return to the Normal, potential students, the application process and requirements, scholarships, tuition, alumni updates, lending typewriters, repaying educational loans, memorializing Colonel Parker, textbook orders, clarifying miscommunications, placing alumni and students in available positions of employment, academic catalogs, the virtues of a chemical fire extinguisher, lecture material to be published, reporting troubles with the gas service at the College, notification by the Sanitary Committee of Guilford County of an order to drain portions of land, the correct number of a piano shipped to the College, and a proposition for building tube wells and plumbing materials by a hydraulic engineer. Also included are student applications to the State Normal and Industrial College, a grade report card to accompany one of the applications, and a map of the Burlington Railroad Route with its connections.
