| Description | Letters and documents written to and by Dr. Charles McIver. Topics include students returning home contracting typhoid fever of typho-malarial fever, an inquiry into local causes for the epidemics, recommendation letters, potential students, school catalogs, the application process, educational advertising (including in a special edition of the Southern Tobacco Journal and the Carolina Fruit and Truck Growers' Journal), local newspaper articles which mentioned the college, dormitory arrangements, piano lessons, textbook orders, potentially building a new summer school in Hendersonville, financial arrangements, returning students, calendar arrangements, attempts to regulate the temperature of classrooms (and complaints regarding the extremity of measures necessary to do so), lectures and lecturers, and statistical information for crime and illiteracy.
