The Class of 1896 folder contains material pertaining to the 1896 graduating class of North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School (State Normal, now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Included in the folder are programs from the 1896 commencement ceremony, graduating exercises, and an Arbor Day celebration. Also included is an alumnae directory which includes students' maiden and married names. Of particular interest are Edna P. Hardin's report card and an essay written by Mary Elinor Lazenby titled "What a Woman Did."
