Medium yellowish-brown (C77) vertical rib cloth; 3 chessmen (black queen, red queen and knight), and two white overlapping circles with white triangle at intersection, black lettering; signed "BS" within box, probably Bertha Stuart; spine lettered and ruled in black with black and red ornaments and red publisher's logo.
