(Women
Accepted
for
Volunteer
Emergency
Service)
in
1943
. She
completed
basic
training
in
Northampton
,
Massachusetts
, and the
served
in the
Norfolk
Navy
Yard
in
Norfolk
,
Virginia
; the
Boston
Navy
Yard
in
Massachusetts
; and the
Boston
Naval
Base
. She was
released
from
active
duty
on
22
June
1947
and
continued
on
inactive
status
for
several
years
. She was
discharged
on
July
1951
.

met

Wiviott
while
on
duty
in

. They were
married
on
8

1947
.
