. She
graduated
from
Harrisburg
High
School
in
1934
, and
went
to
work
in the
Sears
,
Roebuck
and
Company
mail-order
plant
in
Memphis
,
Tennessee
. She
lived
in the
city
with an
aunt
for
six
years
and then
rented
an
apartment
with a
friend
.
Yegge
enlisted
in the
U.S
.
Navy
WAVES
in
December
1942
and
reported
for
basic
training
at
Hunter
College
,
New
York
. She then
completed
four
months
of
storekeeper’s
school
at the
University
of
Indiana
in
Bloomington
. She was then
assigned
to
Naval
Air
Station
,
Ottumwa
,
Iowa
,
where
she
worked
in the
storeroom
until
her
discharge
in
September
1945
.
Yegge
met
her
husband
,
John
Francis
Yegge
,
while
both
were
stationed
at
Ottumwa
, and they were
married
February
6
,
1945
.
After
they were
both
discharged
, the
Yegges
moved
to
Boone
,
Iowa
. In
1953
, the
couple
moved
to
Memphis
, and they
later
settled
in
Greensboro
,
North
Carolina
.
During
this
time
,
Yegge
raised
two
sons
,
Vince
and
Mike
.
Louise
Yegge
passed
away
on
June
9
,
2002
.
