Weir
grew

Trenton

New
Jersey
, and
graduated
from
Trenton
High
School
in
1938
. She
went
to
New
Jersey
College
for
Women
for a
year
and a
half
,
until
she was
old
enough
to
attend
nursing
school
at
St
.
Francis
Hospital
in
1940
.
Weir
graduated
in
1943
and
worked
in the
operating
room
at
St
.
Francis
for a
year
and then in the
neonatal
nursery
at
Mercer
Hospital
, also in
Trenton.
" In
April
1945
,
Wier
joined
the
Navy
Nurse
Corps
after
obtaining
a
waiver
for her
eyesight
. She was
stationed
at
St
.
Albans
Hospital
in
Long
Island
,
New
York
,
doing
mostly
administration
work
. She was
discharged
in
April
1946
,
when
she
married
Earle
Weir
. They
returned
to
Trenton
,
where
Weir
continued
to
work
as a
nurse
until
her
two
children
were
born
.
