(GLSEN is undergoing a restructuring nationally.) Led by Gary Palmer (chair) and Annette Green (vice-chair), the new group will continue GLSEN's support of Gay Straight Alliances at area schools and continue to work for training teachers on LGBT issues. Welcome to PFLAG. We offer a safe, confidential space in which to explore our feelings and understandings about the GLBT experience, especially "coming out' and what this means to families and other loved ones. Listen and share, as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, knowing that others can understand. Welcome especially to our returning members whose love is so healing. Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) promotes the health and well- being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides an opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. Greensboro PFLAG November meeting Tuesday, November 15,7:30 p.m. Friendship Friends Meeting House 1103 New Garden Road Coming Events Shannon Minter to speak at TBPG meeting, Nov. 17 The next Triad Business and Professional Guild meeting will be held on Thursday evening, November 17, at the Airport Marriott. The speaker for this meeting will be Shannon Minter, Legal Director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights. In 2004, he received the Equality California award for his work as lead counsel in the marriage case now moving through the California Courts. After Minter's argument the lower court ruled that gays have a "fundamental right to marry." That case now is in the California appellate courts and if it ends favorably, California will become the second state to allow gays to marry. Another one of Minter's noted cases was Sharon Smith's groundbreaking wrongful death suit on behalf of her deceased partner Diane Whipple, who was mauled to death by a neighbor's dog. Minter got die courts to allow Smith to file a lawsuit against the neighbor. Before this case only married survivors could do that Registration and the social hour will begin at 6:00 pm and dinner will be served around 7:00 pm. Green Queen Bingo, Nov. 11 On Friday, November 11, the Guilford Green Foundation presents Green Queen Bingo Holiday Hoedown, at the Empire Room at 6:30 p.m. Reserve Bingo tickets at www.ggfnc.org Triad Pride Men's Chorus, Holiday Concert In Greensboro: Dec. 3 at 8 p.m., Greensboro Day School In Winston-Salem: Dec. 10, at 8 pm., NC School of the Arts Winter Walk for AIDS, Dec. 4 The 14th annual Winter Walk will be on Sunday, December 4, starting at War Memorial Stadium. The walk begins at 2:30 pm. following opening ceremonies at 2:00. The walk is a fund-raising event for the Triad Health Project which provides services for people with HIV/ATDS in Guilford County as well as education for those at risk
