Description
This scrapbook, created by Margaret Ruth Heilig between 1916 and 1917, documents Heilig's student experience at State Normal and Industrial College (later North Carolina College for Women, now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Heilig, of Salisbury, North Carolina, graduated in 1920 with a Bachelor's degree. While a student, Heilig was a member of the Cornelian Society and was a Proctor, Fire Lieutenant, Corresponding Secretary of the Cornelian Society, and Reporter for the Carolinian. She was described in the 1920 Pine Needles as good-natured, happy-go-lucky, fearless, original, and imaginative. The scrapbook contains casual photographs of students around campus, including the Cornelian goat and a young Walter Clinton Jackson.
